I’m so so excited to announce this year’s #cmpinternoftheyear! I learned long ago that being an Asheville wedding photographer means a. lot. of. weddings with a lot of details and that when my creative brain switches on my logistics brain switches off. This is my 5th season with an intern/assistant and I can’t wait! I interned for a photographer when I was in college and it gave me the experience and portfolio to go full time very shortly after graduating, so I love getting to pay that forward and help train up the next generation of wedding photographers. Each year I’ve had the honor of working with some of the most enthusiastic, dedicated, talented young ladies I’ve ever met and Caroline is no exception. She hails from Boone, NC where she has just finished a degree in Recreation Management with a minor in photography. AND she JUST (like, literally a week ago guys) got engaged to the love of her life, Mac (you can see him at the end of this post!). What an exciting time!!
I asked Caroline a few questions to help you all get to know her better and get an idea of who I’ll be bringing along with me to weddings this season. So without further ado…Meet Caroline!
What is your favorite…
Drink: Cheerwine or iced coffee 🙂
Song: Crazy by Ben Rector (or really any song he sings)
TV Show: Friends or One Tree Hill
What’s your spirit animal and why?
A baby panda! They’re playful, clumsy, goofy, easy-going, and they love to munch on bamboo (except I don’t eat bamboo). I like to think I’d be as fun and cute as a baby panda if I were an animal!
I think a wedding is one of the most important and anticipated days of a person’s life. It’s one of the only days that nearly everyone you love and care about is in the same place, at the same time, celebrating the same thing (you!) I think every single thing that happens on a wedding day – the tears, the smiles, the laughter, the getting ready, the celebrating, the ACTUAL wedding – it’s all worth capturing, because those details are part of what makes the day so special. Those details are what you will want to look back on and remember. Those moments hold so much meaning, and to me, that’s what makes wedding photography so fulfilling and worth pursuing.
Favorite part of the wedding day:
Seeing the groom’s reaction when he sees his bride for the first time on their wedding day.
My arms are double jointed and I can do this thing where I hold my hands together behind my back and then bring them to the front without letting go. It freaks some people out.
Worst pre-wedding stress dream? (a very REAL thing, for those of you not in the wedding photography business):
Forgetting all of my SD cards or forgetting to charge my camera battery and not having any extras.
On a scale of 1-10 how excited are you to be the 2017 CMP Intern???
SO. EXCITED. Solid 11 for sure!
So there ya have it folks! Leave Caroline some love and encouragement in the comments and get ready for the best season ever!!
